A2/B1 Escolar (11-17 años)

Nivel A2/B1 (for young learners)



Candidates who sit this exam, if he/she is successful, will receive one of the following certifications:

Diploma A2
  • This certificate accredits that the candidate is able to understand sentences and expressions used in daily life related to areas of experience which are especially relevant to him/her (basic information about him/herself and family, shopping, places of interest, jobs, etc.)
Diploma B1
This diploma accredits the candidates ability to:
  1. Understand the main points in clear tests and standard language if it deals with matters related to him/her as they relate to work, study or leisure.
  2. Handle him/herself, for the most part, in situations that may arise during a trip to an area where the language is spoke.
  3. Produce simple, coherent texts on topics that are familiar to him/her or in which he//she has a personal interest.
  4. Describe experiences, events, desires and aspirations as well as briefly justify his or her opinions or explain plans.
Advantages of the A2/B1 escolar examination
  • It offers the candidate the possibility of getting a DELE diploma at either the A2 or B1 level, depending on the results in the exam. 
  • It evaluates and certifies a candidate's level of Spanish in levels A2 or B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the Curricular Plan of the Instituto Cervantes.
  • Like the other Diplomas, it is valid for life.
  • The exam is adapted for candidates between the ages of 11 and 17 year (candidates 18 years or older should register for the other general exams).


The maximun score is 100%. The final grade is either PASS or FAIL.
IMPORTANT: In the writing test, you must follow the instructions strictly given in the statement of the test, about number of words and text format.

DELE: What is it? FAQs

The Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) are official qualifications certifying one's level of competence in the Spanish language at an international level. Anyone with a certain level in the language can take one of the levels and obtain a certification if he/she passes the exam. This certification is issued by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain . Is DELE a course? No, it is only an examination that someone, with a certain level of Spanish, does in order to obtain a certification.
